The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Announces Plans to Implement Civil 3D

At the ACEC/WisDOT Transportation Improvement Conference in March, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced their plans for the implementation of Civil 3D department-wide.

Karen Weiss worked for WisDOT for over 16 years, with 11 of those years spent in the Methods Development Unit, providing support, training and technical guidance on the use of computer-aided engineering applications, specifically CAiCE and MicroStation, in highway design. She was instrumental in the implementation of the CAiCE software at WisDOT and understands highway engineering processes and procedures from surveys through construction. Karen is also experienced working with the integration of GIS-data in highway planning and design.

Rod Wing worked in the Bureau of Information Technology Services at WisDOT for eight years, providing support for computer-aided engineering applications from the IT side. One of Rod’s many duties included the maintenance and support of the CAE Plotting software used by the Department, the custom install procedures used, and other custom extensions. Rod was also part of the research team that investigated the implementation of Vault, and has a thorough understanding of the Department’s IT infrastructure.
